Stoke City beat Leeds United at the Bet365 Stadium but lost 1-0 by West Bromwich Albion in the Championship on Saturday.

Stoke City boss Nathan Jones has admitted that he changed his style for the game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, having attempted to stifle Leeds United during the recent 2-1 win against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Stoke were more than deserving of their narrow win against The Whites in January, Jones employing a rugged and disciplined defensive style against a Leeds side renowned for dominating possession and carving apart disorganised opposition.
But, in quotes reported by the Birmingham Mail, Jones has offered fans a peak behind the curtain, admitting that he discarded the approach that worked so well against Leeds when hosting West Brom at the Bet365 Stadium.
“The Leeds performance was us containing Leeds and then hitting them on the counter,” said Jones. “That today was a more fluid performance. We came out, used our diamond and we were excellent.
“We took them on. We were brave.”

Considering that West Brom won 1-0 thanks to a Dwight Gayle goal, perhaps The Potters should have been a little more defensively minded given that the approach worked perfectly against Leeds.
But perhaps Jones felt that his Stoke side were more likely to cause problems to a West Brom team who have scored goals for fun (the most in the Championship) but have looked particularly vulnerable at the other end throughout the season.
