Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have handed a new contract to left-back Myles Beerman – but will Lee Wallace now leave Ibrox?

The chances of Myles Beerman earning a new contract at Rangers appeared to take a major hit when his loan spell at Championship side Queen of the South was cut short after just four appearances last month.
Beerman moved to the club in January but was left out of three successive games before manager Gary Naysmith sent him back to Ibrox ahead of schedule. At the time, the 19-year-old left-back was due to become a free agent and seemed to have missed his chance of staying in Glasgow.
Not so.

As reported by the Daily Record, the Maltese international has been handed a new deal after all. And Beerman will be hopeful of forcing his way back into Rangers’ first-team plans with Steven Gerrard, who should have faith in the club’s youngsters due to his spell in charge of Liverpool’s U18s, replacing Graeme Murty in the dugout.
And another benefit of Beerman’s new deal is that it gives Rangers the chance to deal with the Lee Wallace situation in decisive fashion.

It was understood that he could be let go despite having a year left on his contract.
So the fact that Beerman will now stay and support Declan John at left-back means that Rangers can afford to follow through on their plans for Wallace without worrying about needing to sign a replacement this summer.
