The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be on the look-out for a long-term replacement for Belgian midfielder Mousa Dembele, with the 31-year-old’s current deal with the club set to expire in the summer.

In today’s market, Spurs will have to spend big if they are to adequately replace the former Fulham man, and with finances tight with the move into their new home, that will certainly not be easy.

There might just be an internal solution to Tottenham’s problem, however, especially taking Moussa Sissoko’s recent comments into consideration.

And the man for the job could very well be Harry Winks.

Sissoko raved about the 22-year-old, when speaking exclusively to French publication Foot Mercato, comparing the young midfielder to Steven Gerrard:

“At our club there is little Harry Winks. He is a very good player who reminds me of Steven Gerrard. I think he has the same profile. From day to day, we see him evolve, progress. He is confident. He is even in the England team so it proves that he is a quality player. He is the young player of the club that will explode in the years to come.”

Tottenham have been credited with an interest in signing £70 million rated Tanguy Ndombele, according to the Mirror, but if Winks is truly on the verge of exploding, they surely don’t need to part with that kind of cash to sign the Frenchman.

Dembele is a box-to-box midfielder, in the same mould as Gerrard in his prime.

Winks is undoubtedly a real talent, but whether he is good enough to replace the brilliant Dembele in the future remains to be seen.
