Scottish Premiership champions Celtic reportedly sent scouts to watch Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye in 2017.

After a disappointing spell in China, Richmond Boakye has picked up where he left off since returning to Red Star Belgrade in the summer.
The Ghana international was prolific in his first spell with the Serbian club and has scored three times in four games so far in his second spell. Although Boakye clearly believes he is not at Red Star for the long haul.
In quotes reported by Sports Ghana World, the one-time Juventus youngster has indicated that a move to Britain is on the cards.
“I think it’s the dream of most players to play in England. But I think this season my move is going to happen,” Boakye said. “It will surely happen in January.
“In two to three months, it will happen. It’s not that I’m hoping for it. It will happen”.
Boakye clearly is not lacking in confidence. His comments will be well received by goal-shy Southampton, who the Sun claimed in September were keen to sign the 25-year-old in the New Year.

But Celtic should also be aware of Boakye’s desire for a big move, even if they would not be able to offer the striker Premier League football for obvious reasons. The Mail reported a year ago that the Hoops had sent scouts to watch the 6ft 1ins powerhouse.
And Celtic are yet to replace Moussa Dembele following his deadline-day move to Lyon, leaving Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard as their only senior striking options.
So Boakye, who scored 23 goals in 28 games for Red Star last season, could be a genuine option in a few months.
