Rangers battered Motherwell 7-1 at Ibrox before the international break, moving up to second in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers could hardly have gone into the international break on the back of a better result.
The pressure was on Steven Gerrard’s side after a defeat to Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final and a Europa League collapse at CSKA Moscow – but they responded in style against Motherwell at Ibrox.
Eros Grezda (above) was the star of the show as Rangers thrashed Stephen Robinson’s side 7-1, a result that was as impressive for the home side as it was embarrassing for the visitors, particularly goalkeeper Trevor Carson.
And, speaking to the Daily Record, Carson has made an admission about Motherwell’s attitude heading into the clash that looks rather misguided in hindsight.
“The thing is we fear no-one. Going to Ibrox that Sunday between the lads we were thinking they had a tough game in Russia in Europe (the 4-3 defeat to CSKA) on the Thursday night and they were there for the taking,” said the former Sunderland goalkeeper.

“It was like the Alamo. It was attack after attack. We were down to 10 men and Ibrox was rocking. It was intimidating but you have to stand up.”
Rangers might have looked a little shaky recent weeks but no one should be underestimating the character and attitude of Gerrard’s side, who have made huge strides since the reigns of Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty even if some of the results have left much to be desired.
As it stands, Rangers are just two points off the top of the table and they are comfortably the league’s top scorers too.
