Everton have enjoyed a positive start to the new Premier League season under Marco Silva – but when will they move out of Goodison Park?
After the rapid decline of Ronald Koeman, the numerous batterings under David Unsworth and the insipid, dull football that characterised the unhappy reign of Sam Allardyce, things are looking up for Everton again under Marco Silva.
The Toffees’ majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri spent over half a year chasing the 41-year-old tactician and finally got his man in the summer, months after failing to lure him from Watford.
And while a ninth placed position hardly represents setting the world alight, the improvements have been clear to see under Silva, whose attack-minded style has already won over the majority of Everton supporters.
Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT (9 November, 11.30am) Moshiri has admitted that the former Hull, Sporting Lisbon and Olympiakos boss has succeeded in living up to expectations.
“They play the way Evertonians want their team to play, without fear, playing good football,” Moshiri said.
“Getting results are the most important (thing), the signs are good, we just need to keep at it and hope we can build on it.”
Moshiri also provided an update on Everton’s plans for a new stadium with the Merseyside giants having formally agreed a 200-year lease with the land on the Bramley Moor Docks site in 2017, as reported by Sky Sports.
“It is progressing. The new stadium is not a luxury, we need a new stadium to energise the whole club. We are committed.”
