The rapid winger, who plays for Gent in Belgium, has caught the eye of Newcastle’s scouts this term with his performances.
Simon has scored five goals and claimed two assists for Gent, but he also plays down the left-wing.
And it looks likely that Newcastle will only be signing one of Kenedy and Simon, rather than adding them both in the summer.
