Premier League giants Arsenal looked set to reunite Unai Emery with Monchi but a return to La Liga reportedly beckons instead.

It seemed only a matter of time before Monchi was named Arsenal’s technical director.
The highly-rated transfer guru is without a club after seeing his contract at Roma terminated last week, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, where he would reunite with his former Sevilla partner Unai Emery.
Monchi helped Sevilla win five Europa League titles during his time with Sevilla, bringing the likes of Dani Alves, Carlos Bacca, Ivan Rakitic, Wissam Ben Yedder and Seydou Keita to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Marca reported this week that the Spaniard has already agreed a three-year deal with Arsenal with the announcement apparently imminent.
But there could be a late twist.

Because Marca has claimed on Friday that Monchi could be on his way back to Sevilla instead. The La Liga outfit sacked head coach Pablo Machin after Thursday’s dramatic 4-3 Europa League defeat to Slavia Prague, with Joaquin Caparros leaving his director of football role to take over in the dugout.
As a result, there is suddenly an opening again behind the scenes – one that Monchi filled in legendary style during his first spell in Andalucia.
It has been a difficult few months behind the scenes for Arsenal, and losing Monchi would not help Emery’s situation.
