Could Wolverhampton Wanderers bring AC Milan striker Andre Silva to Molineux? Not if Ligue 1 giants Monaco and La Liga side Valencia can help it.

A £34 million international number nine could be plying his trade at Molineux next season.
Yes, Silva has struggled badly in Serie A since his big money move from Porto last summer, failing to score in 16 league appearances and falling to third in the pecking order.
But he is a goal-scorer with real potential, netting 21 times for Porto last season, six in eight in the Europa League for Milan and is set to lead the line for Portugal at the World Cup.

And, crucially, he is a client of Jorge Mendes, the super-agent who knows Wolves’ owners well and has brought a number of his players to the Black Country since 2016.
So regardless of this forgettable campaign, the prospect of Silva lining up in Wolves’ gold would represent a major coup for the club.
A deal might just have got a little more difficult, however, with Sport Mediaset claiming that reigning Ligue 1 champions Monaco have joined the race. Worryingly for Wolves, Mendes also has excellent relations with the principality club, whose reputation for turning young talents into bona fide world stars should surely be of interest to Silva.

A revitalised Valencia are also keen, the report adds. Los Che have put years of disappointment behind them and look set for a return to the Champions League this season and, yes you guessed it, Mendes has had plenty of dealings with owner Peter Lim before.
Wolves, however, should have known that this deal would be far from easy.
