Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have been reportedly targeting Millwall’s Championship centre-back Jake Cooper since the summer transfer window.

Rangers have been linked with the giant Millwall defender Jake Cooper since the middle of the summer, when the sun was beating down and the World Cup had fans dancing in the streets.
According to Sky Sports in July, The Gers made a bid of £3 million for the highly-rated centre-back, only for Millwall to snub their advances. Rangers weren’t to be deterred however.
As reported by The Express earlier in December, manager Steven Gerrard had made it clear that he desperately wants Cooper at Ibrox in January having sent scouts to watch him in action south of the border.
Cooper has certainly enjoyed an impressive start to the season for an otherwise struggling Millwall side, scoring three goals and assisting six more – all from centre-back – with opposition defences seemingly unable to deal with his presence at set-pieces.

But any hopes that Gerrard had of finally getting his man are now all but over.
As reported by the Millwall official website, the Lions’ reigning Young Player of the Year has signed a long-term contract to commit his future to Neil Harris’ side.
Clearly, the 23-year-old isn’t going anywhere yet so Gerrard and Rangers must focus their attention elsewhere.
