Premier League giants Everton have been tipped to rescue Andre Silva from his San Siro nightmare with Serie A giants AC Milan open to a sale.

Taking the legendary number nine shirt and costing £33 million, AC Milan fans were understandably excited by the arrival of Andre Silva from FC Porto last summer.

The Portuguese international poacher arrived at the San Siro as one of Europe’s hottest striking prospects after hitting 21 goals in a stunning breakthrough season at the Estadio Dragao. It is a reputation, however, that is hanging in the balance with his Milan career turning into a nightmare.

Silva has started just five Serie A games this season and is yet to score a single goal in the Italian top flight. He is not even the most exciting young striker at Milan these days, Patrick Cutrone (below) starting and scoring in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Roma while Silva was an unused substitute.

So Everton will have to take all these factors into consideration as speculation continues about a potential summer move to Goodison Park.

Calciomercato claimed in January that Everton were one of the English sides keen to offer the 21-year-old an escape route. And the Italian press reported again on Friday that Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes, met Milan’s managing director Marco Fassone to discuss the youngster’s future with the Rossoneri.

It is understood Milan, who are in a rather uncertain financial situation, would be open to selling Silva for a ‘fair price’ – likely to be around the £33 million they invested last summer.

This would be a major risk for Everton, however, given that Silva has not scored a league goal all season and so many of the players brought to Merseyside under Farhad Moshiri for big fees have not lived up to their price tags thus far.
