Could Tottenham Hotspur take the pressure off Harry Kane by signing AC Milan’s Serie A prodigy Patrick Cutrone?

Cash-strapped AC Milan are hoping to sell Patrick Cutrone this summer, according to Calciomercato – and that could play right into Tottenham Hotspur’s hands.

It is a sorry state of affairs right now at the San Siro. One of Europe’s greatest and most historic teams are in a mess, having been banned from the 2019/20 Europa League after breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

As a result, Milan are now going down the rather humiliating route of being forced to cash in on two of their most exciting academy graduates in recent years – striker Cutrone and record-smashing goalkeeper Gianluigi Donarumma.

And Milan’s stance on Cutrone, who has been made available for a potential bargain fee of £22.5 million, could hand Spurs the Harry Kane rival they have spent years trying to find.

Unlike the veteran Fernando Llorente or the tragic Vincent Janssen, Cutrone looks a perfect fit for both Tottenham and English football with his old-school, bullish style and his love for a physical battle. Think Diego Costa, but a little better in the air and without the unadulterated aggression.

Tuttomercatoweb reported recently that Spurs were keen to hand the Italian international his chance in the Premier League and, at just 21 and with two seasons of first-team football under his belt, Mauricio Pochettino could be the coach who turns him into Italy’s next great number nine.
