Lewis Wing shone for Boro as Tony Pulis’s side at the Riverside on Saturday.

John Obi Mikel has predicted a bright future for Middlesbrough midfielder Lewis Wing after he produced another stand-out performance in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United.
Wing has been a rare bright spark in a disappointing run of results for under-fire Boro, establishing himself as a key player under Tony Pulis and scoring his fourth goal of a productive campaign on Saturday, firing home a typically emphatic finish against Leeds.
The locally-born youngster was playing non-league football for Newton Aycliffe two years ago, making his current transformation into one of Middlesbrough’s most impressive performers even more eye-catching.
And, speaking to the Northern Echo, January signing Mikel believes the sky is the limit for Wing.

“He looks to me a very good player. I don’t know how old he is but if he keeps going like this he will be a top, top player,” the former Chelsea midfielder, who has been around plenty of ‘top players’ in a stellar career, told the Northern Echo.
“When I watch him play and when I watch him in training, I see he is a good player. He got a good goal.”
Wing is a busy and energetic midfielder who has shown a willingness to take responsibility for the club’s creative output in recent matches.
He is also renowned for his outstanding ability to strike a ball with power and accuracy from distance, although his goal against Leeds came from a little closer than he is used to.
