Joelinton has scored once in five Premier League games so far since joining Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

Former Newcastle United striker Micky Quinn fears that Steve Bruce’s side have ‘massively’ overpaid for club-record signing Joelinton, while speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (18 September, 8:00am).
Eyebrows were certainly raised when Newcastle invested £40 million into a centre-forward who netted a respectable 11 goals in 35 games during his debut season in the Hoffenheim first-team (Sky).
The pressure was on Joelinton to hit the ground running at St James’ Park and, although he did net a famous winner away at Tottenham Hotspur at the end of August, that is his only goal in five games for the Tyneside giants so far.
And Quinn, who scored once every two games for Newcastle between 1989 and 1992, fears that Joelinton could find it almost impossible to live up to his price-tag, even if the best is yet to come.
“We massively paid over the top for him,” said the Liverpool-born goal-machine.

“He looks strong, he’s alright. He needs a few more goals. There’s a conservative way (Newcastle) play, on the counter. With Miguel Almiron, Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie supporting him hell have a chance.”
Joelinton earned plenty of praise for his performance in Newcastle’s valiant 3-1 defeat away at Premier League leaders Liverpool on Saturday, leading the line impressively and bringing his team mates into play with Jurgen Klopp hailing his physical strength (Chronicle).
But do Newcastle have the creativity to provide the £40 million striker with enough ammunition?
