Michel Preud’homme should make Anthony Limbombe his first Rangers priority

Former Club Brugge boss Michel Preud’homme wants the Rangers job – but would he consider bringing Anthony Limbombe with him?

Anthony Limbombe looked almost certain to become a Leeds United player in the summer of 2016.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that The Whites were hopeful of bringing the maverick winger to Elland Road after a fine season in Holland with NEC Nijmegen, one year after failing to reach a deal for the Belgian.

Instead, however, Limbombe returned to his homeland with Club Brugge.

Though with the attacker’s former Brugge manager Michel Preud’homme eyeing up the vacant managerial role at Rangers, you wonder whether the 23-year-old could finally make that long-awaited move to Britain.

The Daily Record claims that Preud’homme, a legendary Belgian goalkeeper who has cultivated a fine reputation as a manager too, has already held talks with Rangers chairman Dave King.

The 58-year-old’s agent even went as far as to say that he has turned down an offer to take over at Jupiler League side Mechelen because he wants to wait and see whether Rangers will offer him the chance to take over from Pedro Caixinha at Ibrox.

And, if he does, reuniting with Limbombe should be one of Preud’homme’s first priorities.

The exciting attacker did not quite live up to expectations in his first year at Brugge but is belatedly starting to find some of the form that made him one of the Eredivisie’s most exhilarating performers during that 2015/16 season with NEC.

A left winger who will shoot from any angle, Limbombe could provide that creativity and speed that Rangers have lacked in a left wing position they failed to sufficiently strengthen over the summer.

The Gers have been linked with Hearts’ Jamie Walker and St Mirren’s Lewis Morgan but, if given the job, Preud’homme would want to bring in his own people. Will Limbombe finally move to Britain?
