Fulham were expected to bring Slavia Prague defender Ngadue-Ngadui to the Premier League before the January transfer deadline.

Fulham looked certain to sign the Cameroon captain Michael Ngadeu-Ngadui before the close of the January transfer window.

The Cottagers had entered talks with the 28-year-old on Thursday (Sky) with Slavia Prague’s official Twitter account confirming that he had been given permission to make the trip to England and put the finishing touches on a move to West London.

But there is no sign of Ngadue-Ngadui at Craven Cottage today after the Guardian reported ominously that the deal was ‘stalling’ in the build up to the 11:00pm deadline.

So what happened? According to Sport.tn, Fulham had agreed to pay around £4 million and the 2017 African Cup of Nations champion even underwent a medical with no problems.

The report adds that Slavia’s president, Jaroslav Tvrdik was ‘angry’ with Claudio Ranieri’s side – and he provided an update on the situation.

“Despite the fact that Slavia agreed to a contract at about 11 o’clock and was also in a medical check-up that was not completed today, Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui remains in Slavia,” he told the club’s official website.

“According to his words, he is absolutely cool, looking forward to Prague and joining the team on Monday.”

Considering that Fulham have conceded more goals than any other team in the Premier League since their promotion in May, being breached 53 times, an experienced leader like Ngadeu-Ngadui might have been exactly what they were looking out for.

The defender seems happy to stay, however.

“I’m fine, on Monday I’ll join the boys in Prague again,” he said. “I look forward to the spring, I believe we will be successful both in the domestic competition and on the European scene.”
