Leeds United were battered 4-1 by West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns, falling to third in the Championship table as a result.

Leeds United lost for just the third time in the Championship this season, but the 4-1 defeat at West Bromwich Albion seemed to represent more than just the odd disappointing afternoon.
Leeds have looked full of character for the most part since Marcelo Bielsa took over at Elland Road. However they fell apart at The Hawthorns, conceding four second-half goals before Pablo Hernandez pulled one back in stoppage time.
The Whites certainly were not helped by injuries to key defenders Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi with Stuart Dallas, a winger forced into playing at right-back, caught too high up the pitch as Harvey Barnes scored West Brom’s third of the evening.
Speaking on EFL on Quest (10 November, 9:00pm), former Leeds midfielder Michael Brown has lamented the side’s error-strewn defensive display and singled out both Dallas and cult hero Pontus Jansson.

“Leeds United defensively were poor. Dallas at right-back, he’s not normally there, Jansson (too). And there were big gaps,” said Brown, who played for Leeds between 2011 and 2014.
Leeds dominated the ball away at West Brom, with 72 per cent of the possession, but they will need to improve at both ends of the pitch if they are serious about a return to the Premier League in 2019.
