Michael Appleton has been linked with a return to The Hawthorns after Championship play-off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion sacked Darren Moore.

Michael Appleton has suggested that he is open to taking over at West Bromwich Albion in quotes reported by Sky Sports.
The Baggies caused a shock on Saturday when they sacked manager and club legend Darren Moore despite sitting fourth in the Championship table with just ten games of the season remaining.
While Moore appears to have done an excellent job from the outside, it seems a dreadful defensive record and a tendency to field players out of position saw him lose a lot of support from the terraces, with a 1-1 draw with bottom-of-the-table Ipswich Town the final straw.
As a result, West Brom are on the lookout for a new head coach with TEAMtalk claiming that Appleton, who was once Roy Hodgson’s assistant at The Hawthorns, has been lined up for a return.
And if seems the 44-year-old could be tempted.
“The reality is, I know a lot of people at West Brom, from the chief executive down to the people who work on a matchday,” said Appleton, who ended his playing career with the Baggies.

“They have all got my number, it has not changed in all that time, so we will watch this space really.”
Appleton has not managed a team on his own since leaving Oxford United in 2017 and he was most recently seen assisting Craig Shakespeare and Claude Puel at Leicester City.
