Leeds United want to keep Everton’s Matthew Pennington at Elland Road but are also reportedly interested in signing Kyle Bartley from Swansea City.

Leeds United fans have made it very clear how they feel about a permanent deal for Matthew Pennington this summer.
Namely, that the Everton loanee simply is not good enough and has not performed anywhere near close to the required level in his 15 Championship starts to earn a longer stay at Elland Road.
Yet, the Yorkshire Evening Post claims that Leeds are still hopeful of signing Pennington for a fee this summer and want to enter talks with Everton. But do recent reports about Leeds’ summer transfer plans suggest that the fans can still be hopeful that a deal for the 23-year-old will not happen?

The YEP also claims that Leeds are in discussions about re-signing Kyle Bartley from Swansea City this summer, the towering centre-back having spent a temporary spell in West Yorkshire last season and forming a formidable defensive partnership with Pontus Jansson.
It is understood that Leeds are confident of meeting Bartley’s valuation and the former Arsenal youngster is keen on a second spell at Leeds.

But Leeds fans will be hopeful that the club sounding out alternative targets means Pennington will be gone this summer.
Everton are keen to tie him down to a new deal, after all, so it seems unlikely that they would make a deal easy for Leeds.
