Victor Lindelof has endured a difficult debut season at Premier League giants Manchester United so a spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers could help.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have cruised to the Championship title with the best defensive record in the second tier.

Marshalled by the inspirational Conor Coady, the bargain Ryan Bennett and the exceptional Willy Boly, Wolves have been rock solid at the back, allowing their attacking stars to flourish in front of them.

Nonetheless, it seems that the Black Country outfit are keen to beef up their backline in preparation for a return to the Premier League.

Now, according to The Sun, Wolves are already hoping to land one Manchester-based Jorge Mendes client in City’s out-of-contract Eliaquim Mangala this summer.

But there is another centre-back plying his trade in the city who could be an option for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are planning to loan out Victor Lindelof this summer, just 12 months after he arrived at Old Trafford from Benfica for a fee of just over £30 million, overtaking Rio Ferdinand as the club’s most expensive defender of all time.

Lindelof has marred his debut season with a number of nervy mistakes, however, and the Sun believes that Jose Mourinho could let him leave on a temporary basis in order to gain confidence and further game-time elsewhere.

It is understood that a number of Premier League sides are keen and it would be little surprise if Wolves were at the front of the queue for another player represented by, guess who, Jorge Mendes.

A loan move to Molineux could suit all parties. Lindelof would get a platform to prove himself while Wolves would get potentially a top drawer centre-back for free.
