Former Standard Liege winger Moussa Djenepo will be playing Premier League football for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton next season.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier cannot wait to see new signing Moussa Djenepo strut his stuff in the Premier League, telling the Daily Echo that he is excited about what the big-money signing has to offer at St Mary’s.

With goals and creativity in short supply last season, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl made reinforcing his attack a top priority over the summer.

Danny Ings and Che Adams joined from Liverpool and Birmingham City respectively to offer wily movement and clinical finishing in the final third. Djenepo, however, remains a relative unknown by comparison.

The 21-year-old Mali international has only played two seasons of senior football before he left Standard Liege for Southampton in a deal worth around £15 million, as reported by Sky Sports.

But, after watching Djenepo in action during the summer’s African Cup of Nations in Egypt, Le Tissier is expecting big things from the little-known winger.

“I watched a bit of Djenepo in the African Cup of Nations and I’m excited by him,” Le Tissier said.

“He has good delivery on him and he’ll chip in with a few goals. He could be a useful addition.”

Djenepo’s pace and trickery certainly gives Southampton something they were lacking for most of last season while a front three of him, Adams and the electric Nathan Redmond is certainly capable of getting supporters off their seats for all the right reasons next season.
