The Rangers midfielder has struggled for game time at Ibrox.
Rangers Matt Crooks says the club’s fans wouldn’t even recognise him on the street after failing to make any kind of impact at Ibrox, the Daily Record reports, while suggesting that Rangers manager Mark Warburton doesn’t yet know his best position.
The 22-year-old arrived at Ibrox from League Two Accrington Stanley in the summer alongside team-mate Josh Windass, but while the attacking midfielder has been quietly impressive in The Gers midfield, Crooks has been handed just one league start all season.

A series of injuries have hampered Crooks’ progress so far, but the powerful midfielder has not shown any interest in cutting short his stay in Glasgow for a potentially easier life south of the border – even though he remains fairly anonymous to most Rangers fans
“Sometimes it’s really hard and you can’t stop thinking about it,” the former Manchester United youngster told the Daily Record.
“I don’t think the Rangers fans really recognise me. In the street, they probably just walk by me not knowing who I am. I haven’t been able to show them what I can do yet”.
Crooks’ one Scottish Premiership start in Rangers colours came in the 2-0 defeat to Hearts in November, but he toiled in an unfamiliar midfield role meaning Warburton has work to do in order to get the best out of the former League Two star.

Nonetheless, Crooks’ powerful physique appears a perfect fit for a Rangers midfield lacking in presence and stature, meaning he should surely have a part to play at Ibrox in the future.
