Mateusz Klich is yet to force his way into Leeds United’s first-team since moving from Eredivisie club FC Twente in the summer.

Of all Leeds United’s summer signings, Mateusz Klich has possibly been the most disappointing so far. The Polish international, who joined from FC Twente in the summer, had only played nine minutes of Championship football prior to Saturday’s game against Burton Albion.
And Leeds supporters were hardly enthused by Klich’s display against Newport County in the EFL Cup recently, the playmaker struggling to influence proceedings against a side ranked 51 players lower in the football pyramid.
However, Klich’s slow start at Elland Road must be tempered with the fact that he missed much of pre-season through injury, not to mention the fact that he has had to adapt to a new league and a new culture in the last few weeks.

After coming off the bench in Leeds’ 5-0 thrashing of Burton, however, Klich offered a glimpse of the qualities that convinced the Whites to pay £1.5 million for his services this summer.
Klich produced his finest performance in a Leeds’ shirt so far, distributing possession efficiently and combining nicely with his midfield partners. An 84 per cent pass completion rate highlighted the ball-playing ability in the midfielder’s locker.
Therefore, a player with Klich’s composure in possession could come in handy in a Leeds’ midfield blessed with the energy and tenacity of youngsters Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips (below).

Klich could be the perfect foil, adding balance in the centre of the park.
Questions remain over whether Klich has the all-round qualities to force his way into Leeds’ starting XI but, with his fitness improving and another appearance under his belt, things are looking up.
