£9m striker Martin Braithwaite struggled for game time at Boro in the Championship and joined La Liga outfit Leganes on loan in January.
Martin Braithwaite has confirmed that he has no interest in returning to Middlesbrough when his loan spell at Leganes comes to an end, while speaking to Ekstra Bladet.
The Denmark international looked like a fine signing when he joined Boro from Toulouse two years ago; the North East outfit parting with a hefty £9 million to bring in a forward who scored 11 Ligue 1 goals in the 2016/17 season (Gazette).
But Braithwaite fell out of favour with Tony Pulis after handing in a transfer request last summer and finally sealed a move away from the Riverside in January, joining La Liga outfit Leganes on loan until the end of the campaign.
The 27-year-old has scored four times for Leganes so far, including a winner against Real Madrid and a strike away at Barcelona.
And, before taking aim at the famously pragmatic Pulis, Braithwaite has made it clear that he sees his future away from Middlesbrough.
“I’m not coming back to Middlesbrough, I can’t imagine that,” Braithwaite said.
“The project I was presented with at Middlesbrough changed completely when Pulis arrived. He has a strange way to play football. The team plays defensively with long balls. It’s really kick and rush. It doesn’t look so good to me.
“That chance I got with Leganes, where I’ve thrived, but I also know that something new is probably waiting in the summer.”
The Teesside Gazette reports that Leganes want to sign Braithwaite permanently but Boro are likely to price them out as the Championship outfit aim to recoup as much of their £9 million investment as possible.
