Marko Grujic is on loan at Bundesliga high-flyers Hertha Berlin but does he have a future in the Premier League with Liverpool?
2018 could be the year where Marko Grujic finally starts to show why Liverpool signed him – albeit in loan spells away from Anfield.
The Serbian starlet played a big role in Cardiff City’s shock promotion to the Premier League in May and he’s certainly made an impression since moving to Germany with Hertha Berlin in the summer too.
22-year-old Grujic has really caught the eye with the Bundesliga high-flyers and was hailed for his ‘exceptional’ talents by head coach Pal Dardia back in September, as reported by The Guardian.
And, fortunately for Liverpool, it seems that Grujic is not ready to give up on life at Anfield just yet. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the former Red Star Belgrade wonder kid has opened up about his future with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“I had a plan to one day play for Liverpool and that’s still the case. It’s not easy of course because Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Grujic said.
“But everyone has their own different way. I think at my age playing in the Bundesliga this season can help me to reach that goal – that one day I can play regularly for Liverpool.
“When I was in England, I saw what was necessary to do every week. I am working hard. The Bundesliga offers really good opportunities for young players to develop.”
Grujic is certainly making more of an impression in Germany than Divock Origi did at Wolfsburg last season, with his energy and power in the centre of the park seemingly making him a good fit for Klopp’s style.
But Liverpool are not short of midfielders with both Fabinho and Naby Keita still yet to show their best form in England.
