Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are reportedly set to sign centre-back Joe Worrall from Championship outfit Nottingham Forest on loan.

Rangers’ long search for a new centre-back appears to have come to an end. Steven Gerrard’s side have been left frustrated in their pursuit of Mark Beevers, Jake Cooper, Curtis Tilt and co but now appear to be on the verge of a signing more exciting than any of those.
According to the Daily Record, Joe Worrall is due at Ibrox for a medical on Thursday after Rangers agreed a loan fee with Championship outfit Nottingham Forest for the 21-year-old man mountain.
Worrall has struggled for playing time at the City Ground under Aitor Karanka, falling to fifth place in the pecking order. But don’t let that fool you; England’s Toulon Tournament winning captain is a very promising talent.
At least that is the opinion of former Rangers boss Mark Warburton. He was the man who gave Worrall his chance at Forest last season and believes he could go all the way to the top.

“He is an outstanding central defender and, give him time, he will be a Premier League talent,” Warburton told Forest TV (23 November 2017) after Worrall’s superb display in a 1-0 win against Norwich City.
The Daily Record add that Rangers had considered Aston Villa’s Tommy Elphick and 38-year-old free-agent Gareth McAuley before turning to Worrall.
And if Warburton is right, Gerrard has got the perfect man for the job.
