Cuco Martina and Oumar Niasse have not played a Premier League game so far this season after loan spells away from Goodison Park.

Marco Silva has made it clear that Everton’s forgotten duo Oumar Niasse and Cuco Martina have no future at Goodison Park, in quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The transfer window slammed shut on September 2 and two players who spent last season out on loan found themselves stranded on Merseyside.

Martina, the versatile defender who arrived on a free transfer from Stoke City and initially became a key player under Sam Allardyce, hasn’t played a single game for Everton since Silva took over.

£13.5 million misfit Niasse, meanwhile, is further down the pecking order than ever after the arrival of Moise Kean from Juventus.

Niasse and Martina will have to make do with playing reserve-team football until the transfer window opens again in January then with Silva setting out his stall.

“They have known my plans since I joined,” Silva said. “Unfortunately, Martina had the injury. We were looking to something for his future but he had an injury during an under-23s training session.

“Oumar was more with me but in some sessions not participating in all of the sessions because in my mind were the players for the matches.

“He understood my plans and, unfortunately for him and us, we didn’t find the right move for him. But Oumar is a professional. He and Martina have known everything since the first day of pre-season.”

Niasse has been linked with a permanent move away from Everton for the best part of three years now but they have never found a buyer for a man who failed to win over both Roberto Martinez and Ronald Koeman before Silva’s arrival in the North West.

The Senegal international failed to score a single goal during 13 games on loan at Cardiff City in the second half of last season too.
