Mohammed Ihattaren made his Eredivisie debut for PSV in January and has already caught the eye of Everton’s sporting director.
Everton’s sporting director Marcel Brands has admitted to Voetbal International that he would love to bring PSV youngster Mohammed Ihattaren to Goodison Park.
The 17-year-old midfielder is the latest fresh-faced starlet to emerge through the ranks at the Phillips Stadium, and he made his first-team debut for the Eredivisie champions during January’s 2-1 win against Groningen.
Ihattaren has apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs with Tuttomercatoweb reporting this week that Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea and Inter Milan are all interested.
But, speaking to VI, Brands has claimed that he would be very interested in raiding his former employers to bring the teenager to Merseyside, but admitted he is probably better off honing his trade at PSV for now.
“Frankly, I’d like to have him with Everton tomorrow, he’s so good,” Brands said.
“But I do not think that’s the path he should take. He will need an intermediate step later. In that respect, Mo is good at PSV.
“The step to the Premier League is really big and it can also go wrong with a talent.”
Ihattaren, who was part of the Netherlands squad that won the U17 European Championships in 2018, will now be hoping to establish himself as a regular at the heart of the PSV midfield, with manager Mark Van Bommel showing plenty of belief in young talent since taking over last summer.
But do not be surprised to see the youngster become a regular in the gossip columns over the next few years.
