Jack Grealish is one of the most enigmatic talents in English football.

He is a player with all the natural ability you could want and, in truth, his quality has never been in question. Instead, the cynics have lined up to query his application, his attitude and even which position he is best suited to on the football pitch.

But, perhaps Grealish’s greatest achievement of his short career to date is that those critics have been a little quieter over the last few months. The 22-year-old has been in the form of his life in 2018, with a number of virtuoso performances leading Aston Villa to the Championship play-off final.

So with the Mail stating that Villa will have to sell their homegrown hero this summer with Financial Fair Play sanctions hanging over their head, it is imperative that Grealish chooses wisely.

According to the Mirror (live blog, 8.59am), Everton and Leicester City are willing to give him the chance to play Premier League football next season, while even the giants of Manchester United are circling.

But perhaps the England U21 ace should swap one claret and blue kit for another. The Mail adds that West Ham are in the race too and, with Manuel Pellegrini in charge, there is surely nobody better to turn the £25 million-rated Grealish into the top class play-maker he deserves to be.

Pellegrini is a man renowned for free-flowing attacking football and getting the best out of gifted, sometimes challenging footballers. The likes of David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, Isco, Rafael Van der Vaart and Juan Roman Riquelme have all thrived under ‘the Engineer’ so just imagine the impact he could have on Grealish.

Steve Bruce helped Grealish find form and consistency at Villa. Pellegrini could take him to the next level.
