Cristian Gamboa is in his final few months as a Celtic player but will he play in the Scottish Premiership again?

It looks like it will take more than an impressive performance against Neymar at the World Cup for Cristian Gamboa to save his Celtic career.
The Costa Rican international returned from a brief sojourn in Russia and immediately found himself well down the pecking order again under Brendan Rodgers. Despite being 31, and well past his best, Mikael Lustig is still Celtic’s first choice right-back, with Gamboa making just one appearance in the entire Scottish Premiership season.
With Celtic seemingly considering offering a contract to Manny Perez, any hope Gamboa might have harboured of a second chance before his contract runs out in the summer could be hanging by a thread.
The 19-year-old posted a photo on his official Instagram account showing himself in Celtic gear as he apparently begins a trial with the Scottish Premiership champions.

The USA U20 international was believed to have been present as the Hoops battered Kilmarnock 5-1 at the weekend and a contract is likely to be put on the table if he catches Rodgers’ eye behind the scenes.
The Daily Record reports that Rodgers is still hopeful of signing a new right-back in January and, if this is in addition to the potential arrival of Perez, it seems Gamboa is heading into his final few months as a Celtic player.
