Premier League duo Everton and Manchester United have both been linked with Porto’s Brazilian centre-back Eder Militao ahead of the January transfer window.

Farhad Moshiri has shown that he is more than willing to put his money where his mouth is. 11 of the 12 biggest signings in Everton’s history have taken place since Moshiri took over as majority shareholder in 2016.
And the Toffees will have to pay over £40 million for the third time under the Iranian steel magnate if they want to make Eder Militao their latest marquee signing.
According UOL Esporte, Everton have been scouting the Porto defender in recent months, with the 20-year-old going from strength to strength since moving to the Primeira Liga from Sao Paulo. Eder even made his senior Brazil debut against El Salvador in September; a game in which Richarlison scored the winner.
But, thanks to Manchester United, Moshiri will have to dig deep once again.

According to the Daily Record (live blog, 12.48pm), Jose Mourinho’s side are hoping to solve their defensive problems by triggering the £45 million release clause in Eder’s Porto contract. As a result, Everton will be forced to match that fee if they want to sign the Samba starlet, and hope that Eder sees Goodison Park as a better destination than Old Trafford.
Fortunately, the Merseysiders might have an advantage. Record claims that Everton have a good relationship with Eder’s agents on the back of signing fellow Brazilians Richarlison and Bernard in the summer.
