Bernardo Silva was arguably Manchester City’s standout player during a treble-winning 2018/19 campaign with even a former Manchester United favourite taking time to rave about the Portugal star.

Speaking to Goal, Old Trafford hero Nani has opened up on his admiration about a player who knows well from his time in the national team.

Nani knows Silva better than most but even he probably didn’t expect the former Benfica and Monaco star to improve so much in his second season in City colours.

In all competitions, he produced 13 goals and 14 assists, ensuring he has been worth every penny of his £43 million price-tag (BBC).

“Bernardo is a fantastic player. He is a natural player. He’s been doing great and he has a long career ahead of him,” said Nani, who won four Premier League titles and the 2008 Champions League down the road at United.

“But last season was fantastic, his best season at Manchester City. And I think he was one of the most important players who helped City lift the title.”

Speaking to City’s official website in May, manager Pep Guardiola claimed that Bernardo Silva was the best player anywhere in the Premier League across 2018/19.

It was his remarkable work-rate, allied with a superb left foot and wicked dribbling skills that left full-backs tied in knots, that saw Silva keep the likes of Riyad Mahrez out of the starting XI.

And the scary thing is, he’s only going to get better and better in the next few years.
