Despite Brendan Rodgers’ fine work with Scottish Premiership giants Celtic, Jack Ross won the SPFA Manager of the Year prize.

Brendan Rodgers is 90 minutes against Motherwell away from achieving something no one else has ever managed in the history of Scottish football – winning the domestic treble in successive seasons.
After winning every trophy on offer in 2016/17, failing to lose a single game along the way, Celtic have already won the League Cup this season and sealed a seventh straight Premiership crown with a 5-0 thrashing of Old Firm rivals Rangers on Sunday.
But, in a move that has left a number of Celtic fans stunned, this was still not enough for Rodgers to be named the SPFA Manager of the Year.

Instead, that accolade has gone to Jack Ross, the 41-year-old coach of Scottish Championship side St Mirren.
Now, while Ross’s achievements might not have hogged so many headlines in recent months, it must be pointed out that he took over the Buddies when they were in danger of dropping into the third tier back in October 2016.
Less than two years later, Ross has led St Mirren back to the top tier after a three-year absence. They did not just win the Championship title but cruised it, finishing 12 points clear of Livingston in a manner Celtic themselves would be proud of.

And it is fair to say St Mirren fans are relishing stopping Celtic from a clean sweep of the SPFA gongs.
