Oumar Niasse’s future in the Premier League and at Goodison Park is in doubt – Everton could reportedly send him to Galatasaray.

Oumar Niasse of Everton celebrates scoring his sides first goal during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Everton at London Stadium on May 13, 2018 in London, England.

It speaks volumes about how far Oumar Niasse has come at Goodison Park that the vast majority of Everton fans want him to stay.

The £13 million striker initially looked set to become one of the biggest flops of the Premier League era at Everton when Ronald Koeman froze him out and took away his squad number at the start of the 2016/17 season.

But after an impressive loan spell at Hull which proved that Niasse can fire at Premier League level, he returned to Merseyside and cemented cult hero status. He’s an impact sub, a prodigiously hard worker and, if you look at his stats, a decent goalscorer too.

In 10 league starts in 2017/18, Niasse hit the back of the net on eight occasions.

So reports from Gunes claiming that head coach Marco Silva will allow him to join Galatasaray on loan haven’t gone down well with the Everton fanbase – and not just because Niasse is a popular figure in blue.

The fact is that Everton are relying heavily now on Cenk Tosun for goals with neither Sandro Ramirez or Dominic Calvert-Lewin prolific in the final third. Letting Niasse go relieves Everton of a very useful option should Tosun find form hard to come by in his first full season.
