Arsenal need to somehow replace Aaron Ramsey and Leicester City’s Premier League star Maddison could be the man for the job.

The irony should not be lost on Unai Emery with Aaron Ramsey producing some of his finest performances in Arsenal colours in recent months.

After all, the long-serving Welshman has already agreed a lucrative deal with Serie A champions Juventus after Arsenal decided against offering one of their most gifted and valuable footballers a new contract.

With funds tight at The Emirates, and with Ramsey set to leave for free, finding a replacement who is both affordable and of the requisite quality could be easier said than done.

So Tony Cascarino’s suggestion should not be overlooked. Speaking to the Times, the former Chelsea striker claimed that Arsenal are crying out for a player like Leicester City star James Maddison – and it seems that The Gunners fans agree.

A £20 million signing from Norwich last summer (BBC), Maddison has shone in the top flight and scored his seventh Premier League goal with a trademark free-kick against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

He is one of the few players on the market who combines Ramsey’s mix of tenacity and technique while boasting an ability to both score and assist from a central midfield role after all.
