Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are reportedly interested in bringing Houssem Aouar to the Premier League from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.
Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas has admitted the Ligue 1 side may have to sell one or two of their star players this summer in an interview with Telefoot – and this could be very good news for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have been linked with a number of Lyon players in the last 12 months.
Nabil Fekir was on the verge of signing for the Merseyside giants in July for a fee of £53 million, only for the deal to collapse due to a problem flagged up during his medical according to the Mail.
The French World Cup winner has been in fine form since, putting an end to concerns over his fitness with 12 goals in all competitions.
Liverpool have also been linked with Fekir’s Lyon teammate Houssem Aouar, according to RMC; a languid 20-year-old play-maker likened to Barcelona and Spain great Andres Iniesta.
And the outspoken Aulas has admitted that the futures of both Fekir and Aouar are up in the air heading into the summer transfer window.
“We will only let one player go from those solicited,” Aulas said.
“I do not know which one because there are many who have been solicited.
“We made a big effort to convince Nabil who is our world champion. Players like Houssem are programmed to leave for a big team.”
Both Fekir and Aouar would add a real spark of creativity and skill to a Liverpool midfield that is still missing the unpredictability of Philippe Coutinho, 14 months after the Brazilian superstar left Anfield and made his dream move to Barcelona.
