Sandro Ramirez failed miserably at Everton and left the Premier League for a return to La Liga with Sevilla in the January transfer window.
Sandro Ramirez could hardly have made it any clearer that he does not want to return to Everton when his loan spell at Sevilla comes to an end.
Big things were expected of the Spanish U21 international when he arrived at Goodison Park last summer for a seemingly bargain fee of £5.1 million. Sandro, a former Barcelona forward, had scored 14 La Liga goals in 2016/17 after all.
But Sandro returned to Spain with Sevilla in January after just three Premier League starts in his first few months at Everton, And, two weeks after arriving at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, the 22-year-old admitted that he was already hopeful of securing a permanent deal.
But, speaking at the club’s end of season awards ceremony, Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has insisted that the likes of Sandro and fellow flop Davy Klaassen will be staying on Merseyside this summer.
“All of those players, every single one of them who signed for us last summer, were determined, determined to wear that blue jersey with pride and become, hopefully, legendary Evertonians,” Kenwright said in quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo.
“People like Davy Klaassen, Sandro, Nikola Vlasic, they’ve come here to give their all, they’re still good players and they’ll still be Everton players next season.”
But it’s fair to say the Everton fans don’t believe a word Kenwright said. After all, Sandro’s clear determination to leave means bringing him back to England seems a little odd.
