If Preston North End are to cash in on Louis Moult already, Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers may battle to secure his Scottish Premiership return.

It is uncertain yet whether The Hoops will choose to make Odsonne Edouard’s loan spell from Paris Saint-Germain permanent. The Daily Mail has reported that a club-record £7 million fee will be required to get him.
And although Celtic have been able to hang onto Moussa Dembele so far, manager Brendan Rodgers has always said that the French goal-machine would stay just two years at Parkhead before heading onto supposedly bigger things.
So suggestions that Louis Moult’s Preston North End career is already in question will not go unnoticed.
As The Sun reports, Moult has struggled to adapt to life at Deepdale following his £500,000 January move from Motherwell, failing to score in six Championship appearances so far. Manager Alex Neil, meanwhile, has so far shown an unwillingness to adapt the team to his strengths.
It is also understood that long-standing suitors Rangers are watching developments closely.
After all, Moult is a prolific goalscorer north of the border and, after netting 30 in the last two campaigns, was the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer when his move from Motherwell to Preston was confirmed in mid-December.
The Lancashire Telegraph claimed that Celtic were keen on Moult before he agreed terms with the Lilywhites and he would be a fine addition to Rodgers’ squad should The Hoops find themselves in need of a new striker.
And with the gap between Celtic and Rangers closing, The Hoops would have the added bonus of denying their rivals one of the most reliable goalscorers Scotland has seen over the last few years.
