Spurs reportedly want to give Blackburn Rovers’ Bradley Dack a chance in the Premier League after shining in the Championship.
Tony Mowbray hasn’t done much wrong since he was appointed Blackburn Rovers manager 20 months ago. But the decision to play Bradley Dack in something resembling a false nine role in the 3-1 defeat at Swansea City on Tuesday night has earned the manager some rare criticism from a number of supporters.
Blackburn were leading 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium but Swansea turned the game around in the final 25 minutes. Connor Roberts and Bersant Celina clinched an impressive win after a David Raya own goal had cancelled out Charlie Mulgrew’s spot kick opener.
And Dack, in only his second game after being linked with a shock move to Tottenham Hotspur by The Standard, produced one of his least effective performances of the Championship campaign.
The former Gillingham star has scored six times this season but never looked likely to add to his tally in South Wales with a number of Blackburn fans noting his difficulties in playing in a more central attacking role.
The Express claimed at the weekend that Spurs’ scouts have been very impressed by Dack, who only joined Blackburn in 2017 for a bargain fee of £750,000.
And, if they were watching the gifted attacker away at Swansea, Mauricio Pochettino and co should have noted that Dack is far more effective when playing in a free role behind the striker.
