Louis Moult can’t stop scoring for Motherwell right now – no wonder Rangers are not giving in.

Speculation linking Rangers with a move for Motherwell talisman Louis Moult just isn’t going away.

The Scottish Sun report that Pedro Caixinha’s side made a move in the summer but refused to meet the asking price for the red-hot striker. With his contract expiring at the end of the season, however, the report adds that Rangers will try their luck again in January on a cut-price deal.

On current form, Moult has the ability to improve any club in Scotland. He scored 18 goals in each of the last two seasons for Motherwell but is already on track to shatter that tally with ease. In 13 games, Moult has scored nine goals in all competitions. At this rate, the 25-year-old could equal his impressive tally from 2016/17 with eight games to spare.

No wonder Rangers reportedly believe he is worth not giving up on. The former Stoke City striker has been one of the most fearsome goalscorers north of the border in the last few seasons and Motherwell’s decision to pluck him from non-league Wrexham in the summer of 2015 is looking more inspired by the game.

Motherwell may be powerless to prevent Rangers from finally getting their man in January, however, due to fears that he will leave on a free at the end of the current campaign. And if Moult manages to improve on a hugely impressive goals tally of 18, Rangers should not wait around to bring him to Ibrox.

The Scottish Sun adds that there is plenty of competition in the shape of Millwall, Brentford, Hibernian and Blackburn Rovers, however. And the interest will only increase as long as Moult keeps scoring.
