Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk offers his assessment of Wolves

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are set to travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday for an intriguing Premier League clash.

Liverpool should be under no illusions about the task facing them when they travel to Molineux on Friday night.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been hugely impressive since returning to the Premier League this season and have already developed a reputation for giving the big boys a bloody nose.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side claimed deserved draws against Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City before beating Chelsea 2-1 in front of their own fans earlier in December.

So Liverpool’s unbeaten run in England’s top flight could be about to come under threat from a Wolves team who are seventh in the table, just a point behind Manchester United.

And, in quotes reported by the Express, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has admitted that Jurgen Klopp’s side face a tough challenge in the Black Country.

“It (Wolves) is another game we want to win. It’s going to be very tough there,” Van Dijk said.

“They are in a great moment but so are we so we will have to prepare well and know their strengths and their weaknesses as well.”

Liverpool have the best defensive record in the Premier League right now, conceding just seven times in 17 matches but Wolves’ in-form attackers will look to cause Van Dijk and co a problem or two on Friday.

Diogo Jota, Ivan Caveleiro and Raul Jimenez have started to find form again in recent matches and should be full of confidence against the league leaders.
