Nathaniel Clyne has missed the whole season through injury and Liverpool are now eyeing Carvajal from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

If there is one position Liverpool do not seem to be in urgent need of strengthening, it is right-back.
Joe Gomez has made some impressive strides this season, so much so that he was handed his England debut in the Autumn, and in local lad Trent Alexander-Arnold the Reds boast another player with a big future for both club and country.
So as good as the two-time Champions League winning right-back Dani Carvajal is, reports in Don Balon that Liverpool are interested in the Real Madrid star will raise plenty of eyebrow, and have Nathaniel Clyne wondering what his future holds at Anfield; if he has one at all.

The former Southampton flyer has been out of action all season and underwent surgery in November in an attempt to cure a long-standing back injury. The 26-year-old has returned to training at last but is obviously some way off match fitness.
And Clyne faces a huge fight forcing his way back into Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI with both Alexander-Arnold and Gomez impressing in his absence.

If Carvajal did join, which appears very unlikely as he is Real Madrid’s undisputed number one and remains one of the first names on Zinedine Zidane’s team-sheet, Clyne could find himself down to fourth place in the pecking order.
Reports that Klopp is interested in Carvajal, regardless of whether a deal will happen or not, suggests that Clyne’s status at Anfield is under threat.
