Premier League side Liverpool will reportedly let Pedro Chirivella go and he should be an option on loan for Scottish Premiership powerhouses Rangers.

Steven Gerrard has already utilised his Liverpool connections twice this summer with both Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent arriving on loan at Rangers.

And with The Mirror reporting that Pedro Chirivella is one of a number of players his former club are set to sell this summer, it will be interesting to see whether Gerrard takes a look at a player he sometimes shared a dressing room with at Anfield.

Chirivella spent two years alongside the legendary Liverpool skipper after moving to Merseyside from Valencia in 2013. And although Chirivella was never really given the chance to play alongside Gerrard in Brendan Rodgers’ side, the young Spaniard impressed behind the scenes with his intelligence, tactical awareness and excellent passing ability.

And who was Chirivella’s hero in the Liverpool dressing room? None other than Rangers’ current boss.

‘It has to be Steven Gerrard (who I admire the most). He’s won everything here and he’s the person I look up to,” the former Spain U18 skipper told The Redmen TV in 2014.

Now 21, Chirivella hasn’t really pushed on at Anfield but with The Mirror stating that Liverpool would be happy to let the £5 million-rated midfielder go, Rangers should consider making an enquiry to bring him in on loan.

Gerrard has plenty of midfielders but no one capable of dictating the tempo in front of the defence so Chirivella would give the club something a little different.
