Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were stunned in the quarter-finals by Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

James Milner has backed his former club Manchester City to bounce back from their heartbreaking Champions League quarter-final exit to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, while speaking to Sky Sports.
City thought they had secured their place in the final four when Raheem Sterling fired home in stoppage-time to put Pep Guardiola’s side 5-3 ahead on the night, only for the stoppage-time winner to be ruled out for offside after a VAR review.
As a result, Spurs progressed at City’s expensive, ending the Blues’ dreams of an historic quadruple.
But Milner – whose Liverpool side are hoping to beat City to another title with the Premier League race as close as ever – believes Guardiola’s star-studded team will not remain on the canvas for long.
“They’re Premier League champions for a reason so I’m sure they’ll react like champions and go again at the weekend,” said the 33-year-old, who spent five seasons at the Etihad before moving to Anfield for free.

“Obviously it’s disappointing for them and they’ll be pushing hard for the remaining games of the season.
“We can keep one eye on it but all we can do is concentrate on our games, we can control what our results are.”
City will certainly be even more desperate to retain their Premier League crown now but you can expect Milner’s Liverpool to take the title race right down to the wire.
Guardiola and co will have to take on Tottenham once again this weekend with an immediate chance for some measure of revenge.
