Unsurprisingly, Mark Lawrenson has strong opinions on the future of England’s Number 1 with reports suggesting Liverpool aren’t keen.

England's Joe Hart

Liverpool legend and BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson says his former club should jump at the chance of signing Joe Hart from Manchester City.

According to the Guardian, England’s number one is intent on leaving the Etihad Stadium before the transfer window shuts next week with Pep Guardiola set to replace him with Barcelona shot-stopper Claudio Bravo (below).

However, Hart appears to have a shortage of potential destinations available to him with the vast majority of Europe’s largest clubs already possessing a goalkeeper of a suitable standard.

Yet, with new signing Loris Karius out injured for the foreseeable future and current first-choice ‘keeper Simon Mignolet frequently incurring the wrath of the fans due to a series of high-profile errors, Liverpool appear to represent an excellent opportunity for Hart to restore his reputation following a dismal showing at Euro 2016 (below).

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool still hold Mignolet in high regard are not keen on signing the 29-year-old Hart, but Lawrenson believes his Jurgen Klopp would be missing a trick by not making a move for the two-time Premier League champion.

“If I were Liverpool, I’d be all over Joe Hart,” Lawrenson told BBC 5 Live ahead of City’s Champions League qualifier second-leg against Steaua Bucharest.

“He’s better than their three goalkeepers put together.”

Karius (below), a summer signing from Mainz, was voted by his fellow professionals as the second best goalkeeper in the Bundesliga last season behind Manuel Neuer.
