Premier League giants Liverpool will spend big on a goalkeeper with Stoke City’s Jack Butland and Roma’s Alisson Becker both linked with an Anfield move.

The world’s most expensive goalkeeper looks likely to be plying his trade at Anfield next season.
But it may not be Roma’s Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson Becker. According to The Mirror, Liverpool have decided that they want a goalkeeper with Premier League experience between the sticks – and will go all out for Stoke City’s Jack Butland instead.
It is understood that Liverpool are confident of sealing a deal for the England international, who would cost around £40 million – slightly more than Manchester City paid for Ederson last summer.

Arsenal are also keen with veteran number one Petr Cech seemingly in decline, but it is believed that Butland would rather move to Anfield and work under Jurgen Klopp rather than the under-fire Arsene Wenger.
Perhaps understandably, however, Liverpool fans are questioning the logic of choosing a goalkeeper with Premier League experience on his CV over a genuinely world-class, and far superior, glovesman in the shape of Alisson.

The former Internacional goalkeeper is one of the best around and, with Mo Salah taking England by storm after arriving from Roma last summer, it seems the fans would be keen for Liverpool to raid the Italian giants again.
Butland is a solid and improving goalkeeper. But Liverpool appear to be one top-draw shot-stopper away from being a genuine title contender – so if Alisson is available it makes little sense to look elsewhere.
