Liverpool reportedly want to bring Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

It would be very harsh to criticise a Liverpool squad that reached the Champions League final last season and are on track to lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

But if there is one thing Jurgen Klopp is missing, it’s a dynamic, creative central midfielder in the shape of Phillipe Coutinho. James Milner, Gini Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and co are all fine players but more renowned for their work rate and reliability rather than a tendency to produce something out of nothing and unlock tight defences.

So reports from Correio de Manha that Sporting Lisbon could be forced to sell their captain Bruno Fernandes due to financial issues have got fans drooling at the mouth.

The Mirror reports that Liverpool are one of the front runners to sign Fernandes, who has produced some incredible statistics this season. In 38 games in all competitions, the gifted midfielder has scored 21 goals and produced another 11 assists.

He tallied 16 goals and 20 assists in 2017/18 too.

A £90 million release clause means he wouldn’t come cheap but, thanks to Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool have discovered that spending big can have a massive effect on your side.
