Harvey Elliott became the youngest player in Premier League history at Fulham and now he is chasing records with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Harvey Elliott is making a big impact behind the scenes at Liverpool with assistant manager Pep Ljinders admitting that the club’s staff have been blown away by his quality in training, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool fans might have been a little underwhelmed when a 17-year-old from Fulham represented one half of their summer additions but the early signs suggest that Elliott, the youngest player in Premier League history, is one a one-way path to stardom.

There’s a reason why The Cottagers promoted the dazzling midfielder to their first-team plans before the end of the season and there was a palpable sense of disappointment when Elliott left West London to follow his dreams the club he has supported since childhood – which wasn’t that long ago, lets be honest.

Elliott is yet to make his first-team bow for a star-studded Liverpool side but that could all change during an EFL Cup clash against MK Dons on Wednesday.

And Ljinders would certainly give Jurgen Klopp his backing if the manager decided to throw this teenager with a top knot into the action having been left in awe by Elliott’s potential.

“What a surprise he was when he came for the first sessions,” said Lijnders. “Some players, they play as if they are already say 28 or 29, he’s a player who sees so much around him before things happen.

“It’s not easy to step into our training because if you want to play high intensity football, you have to train high intensity football. It’s not easy to come in and then have control and find combinations etc. And he showed this from the first sessions. He is a talented boy.

“I don’t want to put him under more pressure, but we’re really happy he is with us.”

Alongside Elliott, promising goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to feature for The Reds for the first time against MK Dons, having recovered from a broken ankle he suffered when falling off his bike in the summer.

Rhian Brewster, the prolific striker who has been turning heads for years, could also feature in Klopp’s starting XI.
