Everton and Spurs were the two Premier League clubs linked with Rodrigo Moreno but could he swap Valencia for La Liga rivals Real Madrid?

How on earth do you replace the top scorer in your club’s illustrious history, a player who has won two league titles, four Champions Leagues and netted a remarkable 450 goals in 438 games? That is the question Real Madrid must answer in the post-Ronaldo era.
There is simply no one on the planet comparable to Juventus’ new number seven. His departure leaves a massive void in Real Madrid’s attack that new manager Julen Lopetegui must somehow fill.
So that is quite the challenge, then, for Rodrigo Moreno should he swap Valencia for the Bernabau this summer. Marca claim that Madrid are monitoring the former Bolton loanee, who was part of Lopetegui’s Spain World Cup squad before the manager was sacked on the eve of the tournament.
Rodrigo scored a career best 16 league goals last season and, according to Marca, could be available for £55 million. He is not Ronaldo, far from it, but he would offer a goal threat and the pace that Real’s attack are now lacking.
Marca adds that the Castellon club are fearful of interest from England, which could be a reference to reports which recently stated that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur were interested in the 27-year-old.

Since then, neither side has signed a new striker – meaning Rodrigo could still be very much in demand with three weeks of the English transfer window remaining.
Though amid the lure of Real, and potentially Ronaldo’s number seven shirt, you could forgive Rodrigo for pieing off interest from Everton and Spurs.
