Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United swatted aside Reading at the Madejski to move top of the Championship table, with Pablo Hernandez and Mateusz Klich scoring.

Lewis Baker has reacted to Reading’s disappointing defeat to a ‘quality’ Leeds United side on Tuesday night, as reported on the club’s official YouTube channel.

The Royals welcomed Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds to the Madejski in midweek and Baker would have been desperate to make an impression.

The Chelsea-owned midfielder spent the first half of the season on loan at Elland Road but struggled, featuring from the start just twice in the Championship.

But he was unable to take any semblance of revenge on the side who let him go in January, featuring in a Reading midfield that was ripped apart by a Pablo Hernandez inspired Leeds.

The Spaniard scored two glorious goals after Mateusz Klich’s clinical opener as the Whites raced into a 3-0 lead before half time.

“Not our night. We started off the game really well. After a good start (there was) a bit of a blip and they scored three goals which was difficult from there to get back,” Baker reflected after the game.

“Second half we put in a good fight but it just wasn’t enough.

“Leeds are a quality team, we have to give them that. It was always going to be a difficult night.”

On last night’s evidence, few Leeds fans will be questioning the decision to let Baker go. The 23-year-old was comfortably outshone and is once again struggling to prove himself in the Championship after difficult spells in West Yorkshire and with Middlesbrough.

The win, one of Leeds’s easiest this season, means Bielsa’s side are now top of the table again – at least until Norwich City host Hull on Wednesday.
